A Sacred Start

Growing With Five Elements

The Hindu Upanishads teach that at the dawn of all creation, the Pancha Mahabhutas—the five great elements—were the first to emerge.

Today, these elements may be associated with the periodic table or different states of matter. Regardless of modern interpretations, the classical fivefold division of Prakriti (nature or matter) into Prithivih, Aapah, Tejah, Vayuh, and Aakashah holds deep symbolic meaning, signifying the origins of all creation in the universe around us.

There is much our children can learn from the Pancha Mahabhutas, especially as they, too, stand at the threshold of a sacred beginning—the beginning of their educational journey. This journey will shape them into individuals who are thoughtful, admirable, joyful, and worth celebrating—a beautiful part of the creation that surrounds us.

Prithivih (Earth)
From Prithivih, we draw inspiration to provide our children with a strong and stable foundation of self. Our well-rounded curriculum fosters the development of confident, resilient personalities and healthy, active bodies.

Aapah (Water)
Aapah, the element of water, reminds us of the importance of flexibility. Just as water adapts to the shape of its container without losing its essence, we teach our children to be adaptable and inventive. Through creative problem-solving activities, they learn to think outside the box—an essential trait of highly successful individuals.

Tejah (Fire)
Tejah, representing fire or brilliance, encourages us to shine brightly. We design activities that help children become comfortable in the spotlight, instilling confidence, especially when all eyes are on them. By nurturing their self-assurance, we help them overcome shyness and timidity, allowing them to flourish and radiate like stars.

Vayuh (Air)
Vayuh, the element of air or wind, teaches agility. It’s about speed, quick thinking, and presence of mind. Our lesson plans are crafted to hone decision-making skills, empowering our children to become sharp, responsive, and effective thinkers.

Aakashah (Space)
Aakashah, symbolizing sky or space, imparts the values of equality and empathy. We all live beneath the same sky and breathe the same air. We instill in our children the importance of sharing, compassion, and unity—qualities found in the greatest of human beings.
